Portland, OR — Willamette Week has endorsed Elizabeth Savage for Multnomah County Circuit Court Judge, Position 14, in the November 3 general election. The leading Portland journal, which backed Hagedorn in the May Primary, described the change as a “somewhat uncommon choice.”
After two rounds of interviews, Willamette Week concluded that Savage emerged as the stronger candidate for the family law seat, and described her as a clearer communicator, with “whip-smart, creative and succinct answers to difficult questions.” It noted that this skill is particularly important for a judge who must make the law understandable to families in crisis.
The editorial board pointed to Savage’s active practice as a point in her favor. She is an experienced family law lawyer both at trial and on appeal, in addition to serving as a part-time judge pro tem in Washington County. It highlighted her varied background, which includes serving in the Peace Corps in Cameroon and teaching high school in the Mississippi Delta.
Position 14 is a family law seat. Savage has over 12 years practicing family law — something that makes her uniquely qualified for the job.
Savage is honored to have the endorsement of Willamette Week and looks forward to November 3.
