FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | Media contact: info@savageforjudge.org
Attorney and pro-tem judge Elizabeth Savage is announcing her candidacy for the 4th Judicial District, Position 14. The seat will be vacant upon the planned retirement of Judge Amy Holmes Hehn, and is primarily focused on domestic relations and juvenile law.
Ms. Savage is an Oregon native who has been practicing law for 12 years. A former high school teacher, Ms. Savage currently sits as a pro tem judge in Washington County approximately twice a month, where she hears domestic violence and stalking cases. Ms. Savage is a court-appointed arbitrator in Multnomah County and is active in Multnomah County Circuit Court’s Children’s Representation Project, where she has been serving as a pro bono child’s attorney since 2017.
Ms. Savage began her legal career at the law offices of Ivan Karmel, where she practiced primarily family law. That firm became Karmel Savage in 2018, and Ms. Savage established her own practice, Elizabeth Savage Law, in 2024. While her practice areas have evolved over time to include appeals and civil litigation, she continues to practice family law and manages two other attorneys, including a family law associate.
A former Peace Corps Volunteer, Elizabeth enjoys spending time with her family in Portland, Oregon, as well as serving on a volunteer basis for several organizations. She is co-chair of the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association Amicus Committee, a regular contributor to Trial Lawyer Magazine, a member of the Board of Directors for the Commons Law Center, a member of the Uniform Civil Jury Instructions Committee, a member of the House of Delegates for the Oregon State Bar, a member of the Multnomah Bar Association Ethics Committee, and a member of the Oregon Women Lawyers Foundation Board.
Ms. Savage has also served as vice-president of the ACCESS PTA, president of the ACCESS Foundation, and assistant coach for her child’s Vista Soccer team.
Ms. Savage brings to her candidacy a long history of service to her community. She is running in order to ensure that unrepresented parties feel heard and respected, regardless of the outcome. She believes that now, more than ever, we must safeguard litigants’ trust and confidence in the judicial system.
